Somen made by Ryutaro, son of the late and renowned katchu-shi (armor maker) Fukutake Ichiro. Fukutake Ichirō (1928–2002) was one of the last of Japan's traditional armorers. He was best known for his great skill in uchidashi; hammering iron in high relief in a style similar to the makers of Myochin. Ichirō was considered the most talented of the modern era's smiths in this style and produced many works. His son achieved the same mastery and recognition. Signed Ryu
