"18th Century Seascape "
Beautiful seascape in the style of Charles François Lacroix of Marseille (1700-1782): a rugged coastline with a hilltop castle in the middle ground, a calm sea in which a patch of blue sky is reflected and in the foreground fishermen and women busy themselves. Above all this a dramatic sky in shades of gray and pink, perhaps an approaching storm. A southern landscape, extremely well painted. The oil on canvas is in very good condition and has regained its attractive chromatic range after professional cleaning. Its later frame is also in very good condition.
