"Two Gilded Frames, Important Collection Of Cameo Prints From The Grand Tour, 19th Century Terracotta"
Decorative set of an important collection of terracotta cameo prints on models of Antiques of the 19th century, well presented in a generous frame in gilded wood and mounted raw on a fine marbled paper in soft green. These two pretty presentations of "Camées du Grand Tour" are my weak point and I look for pieces regularly in France as in Italy, a universe of "Cabinet of Curiosity" mixed with art, Mythology in the taste of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Initially these memories of the stages of the Artists and Compagnons du devoir were kept in wooden boxes or fake books in collection, frequently used for education, artistic awakening for young students where Mythology had a large place in this teaching. In very good condition these fine cameos are presented without glass to admire the finesse and the relief. A beautiful pendant of refined and well-presented "Neo-Classical" decorative interest, in good condition.
