Beautiful portrait of a man with a ruff in a dark costume painted in three-quarters from the early 17th century, this portrait is in fact a self-portrait of the painter Abraham de Vries (1590-1655) made in the 17th century by a follower of the painter, painting presented in a frame of the time.
Abraham de Vries is a painter born in Rotterdam or The Hague around 1590 and died in The Hague in 1655. He is known for his portrait and landscape paintings. He traveled many times to France.
Note an old relining with small old restorations on the background and gaps on the carved gilded wooden frame.
