"Eugene Baudouin Painting Medieval Theater Scene "
Eugene Baudouin (1842-1893) Interesting oil on canvas richly animated framed, the artist presents us here a medieval village scene during a theater performance where the master play PierrePathelin is being performed. We can see a pretty scene set up under a marquee with the actors playing and a large audience made up of women, children and men of all classes as well as knights in armor. Note that the scene is decorated in the colors of Catalonia/Roussillon adorned with 2 coats of arms with red pals on a gold background. The scene can take place between the northeast of Spain and the southwest of France. Beautiful quality work with particular care given to the costumes. Signature lower right "E.Baudouin" and date May 1860 Format work 100x70cm Format with frame 128x88cm Good general condition, we will note cracks as well as an old restoration.
