"Rennes Wedding Armoire In Carved Cherry Wood By Pierre Boutin"
Rennes wedding armoire in carved cherry wood signed Pierre Boutin, dated 1834 and with the bride's initials. The cornice has a double arch, the abundant sculpture decorated with vases and baskets from which flower stems and pompons (campanes) escape and a heart with a mosaic background in the center of the lower crosspiece. The armoire still has its interior with three shelves, one of which is central and has two drawers. Good general condition (note two old and perfectly restored foot ends). Will be waxed before delivery (quote for in-depth restoration on request). Pierre Boutin: The Boutins, established in Pacé, formed a dynasty of carpenter-sculptors (a street in Pacé bears their name) well known in the Pays de Rennes and referenced in specialized works.
