Description:

Serge Belloni, nicknamed "The Painter of Paris," devoted his artistic life to capturing the timeless essence of Paris and Venice. Day after day, in all weather, he immortalized the ever-changing faces of the City of Light and the City of the Doges.


This painting depicts a view of the Pont Marie and the Île Saint-Louis under snow, a subject dear to the artist. Serge Belloni is fond of autumn, the beginning of winter or the trees stripped of their leaves allowing him to show the architecture and the soul of beautiful Paris.


This painting is to be compared to the one presented in the book Serge Belloni Le Peintre de Peintre de Paris for the exhibition at the Galiera Museum.

Biography:

Born in Italy in 1925, Serge Belloni settled in Paris in 1933. He studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and held his first exhibition at the age of 21. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to painting, working daily in all weather to capture the spirit of Paris.

His travels to Holland allowed him to master the techniques of the Flemish masters, which he refined throughout his career. His works are held in prestigious collections worldwide, from Paris to New York, Milan, and Moscow.
