Oil on canvas depicting a scene of life on the Quai Saint-Michel, a horse-drawn carriage is stopped in front of the brand new Gibert Jeune stores (opened in 1884) and one of the coachmen opens the door for two elegant women. In the foreground a young woman walks with an umbrella in her hands next to a well-dressed old man. In the background the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral. Signed V Borras lower left.
The canvas is presented in a gilded wooden frame and certified in a red velvet Marie Louise with a V Borras cartouche.
Dimensions of the outside of the frame 103cm by 90cm.
Work circa 1890. Vicente Borras y Mompo is a Spanish painter born in 1837 and died in Barcelona in 1903.
He is known for his scenes of life and his watercolors.
