" Flemish Master (c. 1650) - The Holy Family"
Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Recalling the monumentality of Rubens's painting, without losing sight of the domestic delicacy of the compositions of the minor Flemish masters, the artist creates a magnificent scene depicting the Holy Family during the Flight into Egypt. The painter's remarkable talent is evident in the volume of the figures, the subtle golden shadows, and the mastery with which they are extracted from the black background of the cave. The costumes, notably the swaddling clothes of the Christ Child and Mary's magnificent red skirt, to which bold lace collars of unusual physicality have been added with a few brushstrokes, bear witness to the artist's skill. An exceptional demonstration of the ability of 17th-century Flemish painters to create, in a very small space, a work of art of remarkable quality. Unframed image dimensions: 36 x 36 cm / 55 x 56 cm, in a magnificent antique gilt frame. Galerie Montbaron includes a technical sheet prepared by an accredited art historian with all its lots.
