This painting is among the best productions of Léon RICHET, characterized by a powerful chiaroscuro, the presence of figures, majestic trees, a finely worked sky...
Such works by Léon RICHET are still regularly sold for 4000 to 8000 euros in auction rooms, particularly internationally where he is highly sought after and offered by prestigious galleries.
BIOGRAPHY:
Léon Richet became the pupil of three different masters: Narcisse Diaz De la Pena, Jules Lefebvre and Gustave Boulanger, an eclectic mix of inspirations that inevitably led him to follow with the greatest consistency the stylistic and thematic inclinations of Diaz de la Pena, his first known master.
RICHET, like many others, was an itinerant artist, favoring not only the areas around Fontainebleau and Barbizon, but also traveling in the north of France, in Normandy, where many artists were interested in the Norman landscape and culture.
In 1869, he had his first exhibition at the Salon where he regularly exhibited his works until 1906, being rewarded several times from 1885. Several of his paintings are kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
