"Natsume Japanese Ginko Lacquered Tea Box - Japan"
Natsume, tea caddy, in black lacquered wood with gold and silver makie lacquer decoration of ginko leaves. Beautiful details of squares inlaid with gold (kirigane) and mother-of-pearl (raden). Japan, 1980s, 7.9 x 5.7 cm. Artist: Goro Hirano, known under the artist name Keizan. Lacquer artist from Wajima who won numerous awards including that of the famous Nitten exhibition in 1978 and 1979. With its original box signed by the artist. For the tea ceremony, the tea master chooses his objects according to the seasons, guests, events... This piece is for autumnal tea ceremonies. The ginko leaves turning yellow spectacularly throughout Japan give the hues of this season with the momiji and its red leaves.
