Verlys, brand composed of the contraction of "Verrerie des Andelys".
It was in 1925 that the Holophane glassworks, created in 1921 in Andelys in the Eure department in France, specializing in the manufacture of optical glass and lenses for lighthouses and beacons, opened an art glass department under the Verlys brand. The first creations were tinted glass objects which, from 1933, gave way to the production of pressed molded glass whose level of perfection and manufacturing mastery, especially in opalescence, would have nothing to envy from the most illustrious houses of the time such as Sabino or Lalique. It is not by chance that the Verlys brand has attached itself to illustrious creators such as Pierre d'Avesn who worked at Verlys between 1937 and 1940. The Holophane house ceased its artistic production of the Verlys brand in 1946.
