Adolphe Clary-Baroux 1864 - 1932Here is a beautiful oil on canvas depicting boats moored at the water's edge at the foot of a pontoon and a large weeping willow.The dimensions of the work: 61 x 50 centimetersBiography:From his childhood, he was interested in painting and from his vacation in Bas-Meudon, he could see renowned artists such as Stanislas Lépine, Charles-François Daubigny and Alfred Sisley painting but his father was opposed to him pursuing an artistic career.Clary-Baroux, during his military service in Fontainebleau, regularly joined Alfred Sisley, the one he considered his initiator, in the nearby town of Moret-sur-Loing. The latter then increased his influence and encouraged him to pursue an artistic career and to talk about it to his father. But the latter refused to help him and Clary-Baroux had to provide for his own needs in pencils, canvases and colours. He studied with Julian and at the Germain Pilon school where he met Edmond Eugène Valton who presided over the Society of Independent Artists and had him exhibit from 1901. He subsequently exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries and at the Retrospective of the Salon des Indépendants in 1926 and presented in 1928 at the Salon d'Automne of which he was a member, the painting Place Bab-Sovika and Mosque of Sidi-Mahrez Tunis He died on December 4, 1932 in the 14th arrondissement.
