Pastel from the 1930s by René Carrère depicting Gabrielle Colette. René Carrère (1879-1959) was in turn an actor, director and portrait painter of the "jet set" of the Belle Époque. He produced numerous portraits of celebrities of the time: Mistingett, Colette, Sacha Guitry... He mainly used the pastel technique for his portraits. The portrait presented is that of Gabrielle Colette, famous novelist.
