Louise Germain (1874-1939) Ducks, oil on canvas, signed lower middle 25.5 x 39 cm. Cracks. On the back Exhibition label from the Galerie Druet rue du Fbg Saint-Honoré in Paris, n°3855. This painting was exhibited at the Galerie Druet around 1905/1907 (the gallery moved to rue Royale in 1908).
According to contemporary accounts, Paul Cezanne appreciated the talent of Louise Germain who was the only woman to paint on location alongside the master. Cezanne acquired a painting by Louise Germain representing ducks from "Maisonneuve" a paint merchant on rue Thiers in Aix.
