"Burl Veneer Worker, Charles X Period (circa 1825-1830)"
Elegant Charles X period work table, in carefully selected burl veneer, offering a superb play of grain and light. This charming, refined and intimate piece of furniture testifies to the bourgeois and aristocratic taste for small, elegant pieces of furniture intended for needlework, correspondence or feminine toiletry. It opens with a flap revealing a mirror framed in precious wood and an interior divided into compartments, allowing to organize threads, ribbons or jewelry. On the front, an additional drawer has a refined marquetry decoration with stylized floral motifs, characteristic of the decorative taste under Charles X. The base, of great visual lightness, rests on four curved feet joined by a circular spacer, and ends with chiseled bronze sabots representing claws, emphasizing the elegance of the whole. The fine marquetry, the burl veneer with shimmering reflections and the quality of the finishes perfectly illustrate the know-how of French cabinetmakers in the first third of the 19th century. This type of furniture, both practical and delicate, was generally found in the boudoirs or bedrooms of high society ladies, combining decorative refinement and functionality. Very good condition. French polish. With its key. Dimensions: Height: 73 cm Width: 50 cm Depth: 35 cm
