Mathilde FRANCES is listed in the Bénézit Dictionary of Artists. She was born on December 23, 1879 in Saint-Pons and died on August 12, 1964 in Montpellier. She studied at the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier and was a pupil of Jean-Paul LAURENS and Henri ROYER. She exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, becoming a member in 1922.
This painting is in its original condition (“dans son jus”): it shows a few minor paint losses and some small holes along the edges, but nothing serious.
The delicate shades of pinks and blues create a beautiful and highly decorative effect.
