Basque Pelota Player Painting, Pelotari 20th Century

Superb representation of a Basque pelota player in full action.
The work honors this emblematic sport of the Southwest of France.

The pelotari is dressed in traditional attire, beret, white pants, white shirt, red belt and espadrille with red laces.

The artist was perfectly able to capture the movement of the player, in full gesture of throwing, brandishing his chistera, translating both power and fluidity of the gesture.

The work on paper is a mixed technique in pencil, pastel and oil.

Of beautiful format, protected under glass and framed, it is in perfect condition.

Signed at the bottom left, I couldn’t identify the artist.
