"Monoxyle Shepherd's Snuffbox – Folk Art – Primitive Art – Massif Central"
Late 19th century – Early 20th century France Shepherd's snuffbox carved from a single piece (monoxyl technique), a rare example of rural folk art. Shaped directly from a piece of raw wood, it retains the natural and rustic appearance of a small log, with its irregularities and organic texture. The lid, cut from the block, is articulated thanks to a handcrafted hinge that is now missing. A small wooden peg, also from the original block, underlines the ingenuity and humility of the gesture. Beyond its function, this snuffbox embodies the poetry of everyday life and the inventiveness of self-taught artisans, who transformed a simple piece of wood into a personal and meaningful object with rudimentary tools. The patina and traces of use tell the story of a shepherd's memory, his repeated gestures, and a vanished way of life. Condition: good general condition, deep patina, old wear, missing hinge. Dimensions: Length 7.5 cm Delivery: All deliveries are handled by DHL Express only.
