The Venus de' Medici is an original Hellenistic Greek marble statue preserved in the Tribuna of the Uffizi Gallery. The work depicts Venus bathing, in a modest pose. Considered one of the purest and most sublime incarnations of woman ever conceived, the statue enchanted Emperor Napoleon, who ordered its transfer to Paris; only during the Restoration was it returned to Florence. Its fame remained unchanged, making it one of the most emblematic sculptures in the history of art.
Ours comes from one of the many Florentine sculpture workshops that in the 19th century loved to reproduce it for their Italian and foreign clients. Finely crafted, it is in very good condition. It is intact and free of resin reconstructions, with a few barely visible spots of old gluing above the knees and elbows.
