Beautiful work, with strong contrast, by the painter Gustave Vidal which represents an old farm on the edge of a road in Provence, most certainly in the Alpilles in the vicinity of Fontveille where the artist liked to set up his easel. We can observe, in the foreground, two characters discussing on the edge of the road.
The artist knew how to perfectly transcribe the different shades of colors and the play of light of a summer day in Provence.

Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who will encourage his students including Gustave Vidal to go and paint outdoors. He was influenced by the new Avignon school and abstract painters.
His style, unique, combines knife technique and pictorial stylization.
He received numerous awards from the beginning, and exhibited throughout the world.

Dimensions: 50 x 65 cm without frame and 65 x 80 cm with its gilded wooden frame.
