Belarti is the pseudonym used to sign iconic ceramic tables made in the 1960s and 1970s, mainly in Belgium. Behind this name is Julien de Covemaeker (1927-2008), a Belgian ceramist from Ostend. He signed his works "Belarti" - a name probably composed from "BELges" and "ARTIstes" - and sometimes under the variants "Juliette Belarti", "J. Belarti" or simply "Belarti".
Belarti tables are known for their colorful ceramic tops, with abstract patterns and organic lines, and for their metal legs. Their style remains iconic of Belgian design of the 60s and 70s, merging art and functionality.
