Henry MALFROY was born in 1895 in Martigues. He died in 1945 in Buchenwald. A student at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants. A member of the Resistance, he died in deportation to the Buchenwald camp in Germany. This charming, bucolic painting depicts two figures walking in the Provençal countryside. A beautiful light illuminates the scene. The painting is signed in the lower left corner of the canvas. It is enhanced by a wooden and gilded stucco frame with corners.
