More pictures
Elegant 17th century cast iron fireback, finely cast. The relief decoration features, in the central register, a field adorned with fleurs-de-lis surmounted by a royal crown, emblematic iconography of the French monarchy under the Ancien Régime. The balanced composition and the quality of the cast reveal work intended to adorn the hearth of a prestigious residence. Beautiful old patina of a deep black, highlighting the readability of the reliefs. Prestigious provenance: castle of the Count of Moré de Pongibeau, located in Lozère, which gives this fireback an additional historical and heritage interest.
