This is the portrait of citizen Jean-Baptiste DROUET who recognized the king in Varennes.
Postmaster in the Marne, he led a bourgeois life until he crossed paths with Louis XVI fleeing Paris with his family, he contributed to having him arrested in Varennes.
Sold as is and in its original juice: the text is a little blurred due to cooking, wear and tear and cracks, note that one end of the plate has been re-harvested (see photo).
