""petanque Game In Montmartre", Gouache By Gen Paul, Circa 1960."
This very colorful gouache, by the Montmartre painter, GEN PAUL, depicts a game of pétanque, and more precisely a game of 'longue', a more 'physical' game, more strategic and requiring particular shooting skill. The scene is the Montmartre boules court, next to the painter's home. Two protagonists are visible. In the foreground, the 'pointer', recognizable by his almost acrobatic position and his grip on his boule. At his side, a player waits his turn, motionless: his hands behind his back! Signature, bottom right, by Gen Paul, from the early 1960s. The painter is always very attentive to the study of movement.
