Pipe tobacco box from famous Iserlohn workshop, in honor of Russian victory over Ottomans, August 1774.
Brass and copper body in shape of an elongated box,
Lid and bottom decorated by hammer stamping in steel molds, rich compositions, two comic strips with many characters and military attributes, very good condition, little wear, sculptor of mold is Johann Heinrich Hamer, another version of this snuffbox, in same condition as ours and by same artist, is in Metropolitan Museum.
Good condition, for this rare 250-year-old object: no notable flaws, no wear, no transformation; Dimensions: 16cm x 5cm x 3.2cm.

As I researched: "A German brass tobacco box Iserlohn, Johann Heinrich Hamer, third quarter 18th Century… The Russians then won impressive victories over the Turks. They seized Azov, Crimea and Bessarabia. Under the command of Field Marshal PA Rumyantsev, they invaded Moldavia and also defeated the Turks in Bulgaria. The latter were forced to seek peace, which was concluded by the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca (July 21, 1774). Thank you Christies and Wikipedia!
