17th Century Hollow Dish (saint Anthony Of Padua Scene Decoration, Nevers)

Hollow dish on heel of oval shape (32 cm X 25 cm X 4 cm)
High fire decoration, called full, blue monochrome.
The basin is hollow (4 cm deep) and presents a scene of SAINT ANTOINE of PADOU seated;
on the left hangs his rosary, on the right, he reads the Bible.
He is accompanied by his pig and his Tau (Greek cross).
A plant environment completes the decoration.
The wing is decorated with 3 birds, insects and stylized flowers.
The back loaded with various signs has a heel pierced with 2 holes.
Manufacture of NEVERS 17th century

This dish has 2 small enamel skips (visible on photo)
Saint ANTOINE of PADOU was born in LISBON in 1195 and died in ITALY in 1231.
Patron saint of earthenware makers,
he protects the earthenware makers of NEVERS. St ANTOINE was known as a healer and miracle worker. (many miracles)
the tradition that says that the pig brings good luck dates back to the Middle Ages.
