Double Oval Photo Frame, Louis XVI Style, Polished & Matte Gilt Brass, Napoleon III Period

Superb frame or photo frame in gilded brass, guilloché work, polished and matted with great finesse and richness of detail; beautiful pediment motif of a Louis XVI style knot decorated with a crown and crossed ribbons adorned with oak leaves, The framing rod highlighted with a frieze of acanthus leaves between two borders.
Four spandrels decorated with palm leaves and flowered rosettes adorn the corners of this frame. In the upper part, an eagle with outstretched wings, its talons gripping a thunderbolt, sits between the two oval spaces reserved for photographs.
In the center, in the lower part, a beautiful fleuron motif decorated with a knot arranged in a fall, two arms formed of leafy scrolls whose ends are bird heads support delicate floral garlands.
