Rare dance mask collected on the Tabar Islands in Papua New Guinea. This mask made of bark, plant fibers, fabric and recycled fibers, and pigments is worn during ceremonial dances linked to the so-called "Malagan" rite. It was notably used during a large ceremony organized on the island of Tatau (see attached photo). Sold with a presentation base. Approx. 85 x 28 x 38 cm / €680 including base and shipping.
