The Hollywood Regency style was born in the 1930s, at the height of Hollywood's golden age, this artistic movement is the result of an encounter between cinema and the luxury of Hollywood interiors, it is distinguished by aesthetic choices as bold as they are refined. The origin of the style takes its source in the Art Deco era between the Hollywood Hills, the film studios and the beaches of Malibu, an eclectic furnishing style then emerged. The booming film industry attracted wealth, glamour, and luxury during the decades between 1920 and 1960. Movie bosses, stars, and discerning directors wanted to live up to their celebrity status. From this excitement emerged a furnishing style that accompanied Hollywood's golden age. Each piece of furniture seemed to have been designed as a movie prop, capable of telling a story on its own. Emphasis was placed on clean, geometric lines and sculptural forms that gave each room a theatrical character. A touch of extravagance could be achieved by adding exotic decor and animal motifs, as well as antique figurines and ornaments. The result was an eclectic style, sumptuous but not overdone, that remains contemporary today.
