"Celtic Granite Cross"
Beautiful granite cross representing the Celtic cross, it comes from Morbihan, probably from the late XVIII Centuries . Origin of the Celtic Cross In the second millennium BC, the Celts expanded into Western Europe, bringing their knowledge and integrating that of the local peoples, present since the Neolithic period. It seems that the Celtic cross already existed before this expansion. Although it is difficult to pinpoint its exact origin, it could date back more than 3,000 years and come from the Pontic steppes, cradle of the Aryans, ancestors of the Celts. Regarding Celtic crosses in Brittany, resulting from migrations from the British Isles as early as the 7th century, they are characterized by a circle connecting the arms. Originally, this circle may have been a practical method of assembling the structure, but it became an emblematic stylistic element of medieval Irish Catholicism. These High Crosses often served as monuments and sacred places of worship where the faithful gathered.
