France, second half of the 19th century
A monumental conference or library table, crafted in solid mahogany and lavishly adorned with gilt bronze mounts. The rectangular top is inset with tooled black leather and surrounded by a molded mahogany frame, embellished with a continuous gilt bronze frieze of Saint Andrew’s crosses. All four sides feature festoon decorations composed of classical ribbons, laurel garlands, and central rosettes — refined neoclassical motifs inspired by the Louis XVI style and characteristic of the grandeur of Napoleon III décor.
The table includes discreet drawers seamlessly integrated into the frieze. It rests on fluted, tapering legs of truncated pyramidal form, each adorned with vertical bronze mounts and oval appliqués with floral reliefs. A piece of exceptional craftsmanship and visual impact, ideal for prestigious interiors, libraries, or executive settings.
