"An Art Nouveau Gilt Bronze Cup, Early 20th Century "
Important finely chiseled and gilded bronze bowl, free-form, typical of Art Nouveau. The bowl adopts a naturalistic composition adorned with double ribbed leaves with soft contours, forming the body of the piece. The decoration is enriched with flowers in the round, sculpted in their own right like small sculptures, arranged in relief in the center and on either side of the bowl. A sinuous handle blossoms in an arabesque, giving the whole a harmonious and refined movement. The gilding has a warm and nuanced patina, highly decorative, which highlights the quality of the modeling and the richness of the details.
Signed C.R. Vibert. French work, circa 1900.
