Although unsigned, this painting clearly falls within the French pictorial movement of the late 19th century, between regional naturalism and decorative symbolism.

The warm palette, the light but structured touches, and the clear construction of space refer to the Breton painting disseminated in Pont-Aven, Concarneau or Douarnenez around 1890–1910. It could be a painter active in the circle of Alfred Guillou (1844–1926),
or a decorative artist influenced by the atmospheric compositions of Henri Rivière.
