Beautiful work, with strong contrast, by the painter Gustave Vidal which represents a lively view of the rue de la Monnaie in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, more commonly called the street of painters. We can observe, in the foreground, two characters discussing in front of a house.
The artist has a perfect mastery of the play of light to perfectly transcribe the colors of a summer day in Provence.
Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who will encourage his students including Gustave Vidal to go and paint outdoors. He will be under the influence of the new school of Avignon and the abstract painters. His style, clean, mixes knife technique and pictorial stylization.
He received numerous awards from the very beginning and exhibited throughout the world.
