Antique Carnelian Intaglio Ring – Allegorical Figure with Laurel & Hearts, Circa 1780–1830
A fine antique ring set with a beautifully engraved oval carnelian intaglio depicting a classical allegorical figure. The female figure is shown kneeling, holding a laurel wreath beside a pedestal topped with two hearts—likely symbolising love, unity, or virtue.
The gemstone is mounted in a plain bezel setting atop a charming three-wire gold shank, typical of late Georgian or early 19th-century construction. The ring is unhallmarked, as was common for period pieces, but tests as high-carat gold (likely 15ct–18ct).
