Beautiful icon of the Virgin and Child, known as the Mother of God of Smolensk, dating from the mid-19th century.
This work can be attributed to an iconographic workshop in the Volga region of Russia.
This icon is painted in warm tones using tempera (paint based on egg yolk and natural pigments) on a wooden panel. The halos are gilded.
Saint Dimitri and Saint Eudoxia are represented in the borders.
Very good original condition. Minor wear and cracks.
