Superb khaki green glazed earthenware buyre or jug, with 3 flat handles highlighted by 3 grooves and a pouring spout
The body of the ceramic is decorated with very simple pastillages in slightly wavy vertical lines obtained by affixing the potter's thumb marks before firing on parts of more humid terracotta, thus allowing them to be freely modeled.
The direct trace of the intervention of the master potter himself always gives, to my taste, a poetic aspect of ceramic creation, which constitutes one of the decisive charms of these pieces of folk art, produced in very large quantities and intended for popular and everyday use. These jugs mainly contained wine or oil.
Many pieces were cracked, broken by shock, frost, etc.
This piece was lucky enough to escape these problems for several centuries, and remained perfectly intact.
Very aesthetic enamail, partially covered by random enamel drips.
