""view Of The Rear Carriage Of The Galere La Reale" - By H-grygkar - In 1953 "hermes" In Paris"
Ships are one of the favorite themes of the Maison Hermès. Louis XIV's France, having to be present on all fronts, relied on Colbert's fleet of ships for its Atlantic coast. The Sun King also wanted his "mare nostrum" so a type of high-ranking galley was created, the "Réale". This is the name of the one built for the great king and which remains one of the most sumptuous floating objects. Its ceremonial finery, tent, pavesade, banners and other pennants in brocade, velvet and crimson damask embellished with gold and silver made up the attributes of this magnificent galley that Hugo Grygkar redesigned in 1953. This model was reissued in 1992 and 2007. In silk twill with hand-rolled edges, this exceptional scarf comes on an off-white background with sky blue borders in a range of tones: sky blue, royal blue; Navy blue, gold in a fleur-de-lis surround. The copyright appears at the bottom left and the name of the house of Hermès at the bottom right. Sold with its box. Bears its manufacturing label.
