Saint Roch was born in Montpellier in 1350, into a wealthy family. Orphaned at the age of 17, he inherited a fortune that offered him a comfortable life. However, he chose to renounce these privileges to become a pilgrim. Determined to help the most deprived, he set out on the roads, distributing his goods to the poor and caring for the sick.
