Rare and impressive large German porcelain group byAelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur, Schwarzburger Werkstätten, Thuringia,circa 1925. Modelled by Hugo Meisel, the chief artist and principal designer ofVolkstedt, this group features a standing rococo couple in a close embrace. Attheir side, a Moorish page boy presents a cushion with a casket of goldenbonbons, reflecting 18th-century aristocratic traditions of courtly celebrationand luxury.
Thisfigure is an original artist-designed work from the elite division ofVolkstedt, not a mass-produced figurine. The underglaze blue crowned monogramis placed on the side of the base, as typical for Schwarzburger Werkstätten.The sculptor’s signature H. Meisel appears in raised letters on the side,confirming authenticity.
A bluecartouche with three golden stars is featured on the base—a decorative motifderived from the historic coat of arms of the Schwarzburg principality, wherethe Volkstedt manufactory was located. This emblem was typically reserved forlarge and prestigious sculptural groups, serving as a mark of the manufactory’s“luxury line” or “collector’s edition,” and underscoring the aristocraticheritage and artistic status of the pieceCondition: Excellent antique condition.
