He received the following year a first prize for figure which decided him to continue in this direction. In 1895, he lived with his mother on Boulevard de Clichy in Paris.Often described as a Mediterranean Fauve, Charles Camoin (1879-1965) entered, through his links with Paris and the Montmartre bohemian scene, into the circle of the international avant-garde. Affiliated with Fauvism, linked to Matisse, Marquet and Manguin, he never renounced his artistic independence. He would become one of the most important painters of the 20th century. This bouquet with flamboyant colors is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity dated 1970 written by Madame Camoin, his wife, which dates the painting to 1943 or 1953 (difficult to decipher). This painting, despite its small size, is a real little gem. With its well-arranged, frank colors, it exudes a strength and power that demonstrates the talent of this great Master.
