Oil Painting On Panel Depicting The Holy Family

This splendid work painted on panel is accompanied by an expertise drawn up in 1974 by Professor Giuseppe Cellini.

"I examined the Slovenian oak panel with the oil painting representing the Madonna and Child with St. Joseph,
and in my opinion I believe that it should be considered a work that does not go beyond the first half of the sixteenth century. As an image, this faithfully follows a composition by Raffaello Sanzio, known under the name of "Madonna del Velo", of which several replicas are known. This work by Raphael, while it was in its original Roman location of S. Maria del Popolo, was the object of great admiration and study and there were many artists who were servilely inspired by it: Italians and foreigners; Dutch and Flemish, and in general all the Nordics, who came to Rome..."
