"J.pierre Meynard (?- 1959) "banks Of The Creuse 1926" Crozant, Gironde, Madeline, Alluaud, Peccatte"
New superb oil on canvas by J.Pierre Meynard representing a bank of the Creuse in 1926, signed and dated lower left. Size of the painting alone without frame 50x61cm and 69x80cm including frame. This is therefore a very beautiful post-impressionist composition by Jean-Pierre Meynard who once again paints the Creuse valley, most likely towards Crozant, the rocks of La Fileuse or nearby. His touch as well as his palette are very successful, perfect mastery of his technique, bright and warm colors, in the tradition of painters such as Paul Madeline, Alluaud etc... I say new because I already had 2 works of this artist on the valley of the Creuse, including the bridge of Piles in Crozant in 1916 (see last photo) We know very very little about this excellent painter, a large part of his studio was sold at Drouot Paris, hence a studio stamp that we can come across. We also know that he was born in Castillon sur Dordogne in Gironde, that he exhibited at the Salon d'Hiver in 1947 and that he died in 1959 and therefore finally that he liked to frequent the valley of the Creuse. This canvas is in good original condition, some small imperfections of the canvas but nothing bad, delivered in a modern gilded frame of average quality with small accidents. Work guaranteed authentic
