The artworks are attributed to Formenti based on comparisons with Resting During the Flight to Egypt in the Quadreria Arcivescovile in Milan. The painting is published on page 344, photo 119, of the Catalogue of the exhibition Alessandro Magnasco 1667-1749, held at the Palazzo Reale in Milan in 1996, curated by Ettore Camesasca and Marco Bona Castellotti. We find the same tree in both artworks dedicated to the Rest during the Flight into Egypt, and we also observe the same dark green leaves with metallic highlights.
