"Empire Clock, Dial Signed "jearmin à Paris""
Stunning Empire table clock from the first half of the 19th century, French origin. Dial signed "Jearmin à Paris." This clock's design features an inverted trapezoidal case, with a base that is narrower at the top and wider at the bottom. The body of the clock is decorated with gilded bronze motifs that contrast with the dark, burnished bronze background. The base is broad and rectangular, with rounded feet and gilded bronze relief decorations, featuring floral motifs and rosettes. At the top of the clock is a gilded bronze female bust (probably a sphinx), with braided hair and typical ancient clothing. Below the dial is an eagle with outstretched wings (a Napoleonic imperial symbol), flanked by cornucopias and floral motifs. The sides of the body feature vertical relief decorations with floral motifs and stylized musical instruments, very common in the Empire style. The dial is white enamel and signed "Jearmin à Paris," a watchmaker active in Paris, confirming the clock's French origins. The finely crafted hands are in the "Breguet" or similar style, typical of the early 19th century. It features two winding holes (one for the time mechanism and one for the hour strike), a characteristic of mechanical pendulum clocks of the period.
