"Silver Chalice, Portugal, Late 19th Century "
Silver chalice composed of four screwed elements. It rests on a circular base with a projection, decorated with a large frieze of gadroons executed in repoussé. The terrace, almost non-existent, takes the form of a fluted pedestal supporting a baluster shaft forming a vase-shaped knot. The latter is also decorated with channels and interlacing in its lower part. The cup, tulip-shaped, is gilded inside and set in a false fluted half-spherical cup, the rim of which is decorated with a frieze of water leaves.
