Abstract Painting Art Brut Frame Montparnasse Painting Signed François Ozenda 1923-1976

Oil on paper 31 cm x 26 cm preserved under glass and sold with its Montparnasse frame 50 cm x 41 cm signed lower right Ozenda for the painter François Ozenda referenced in Benezit. The biography below is an extract. Sold with Invoice-certificate. Good condition. The painter François Ozenda was born in 1923 and died in 1976 in Marseille. He is attached to art brut. He is a marginal artist who sold his paintings mainly in cafes and restaurants. His works were exhibited mainly in the south of France, notably in Vence at the Alphonse Chave gallery (in 1953, 55, 56, 59, 65, 66, 72, and 77). After his death, he was the subject of several retrospectives in Lyon, Marseille and Trans-en-Provence. The Vosges Departmental Museum in Epinal owns a 1968 painting by Ozenda entitled "The Brilliance of the Geometry of the Virgin." In Paris on January 17, 1994, "The Maleficent Doll and Her Baby" was sold for 5,800 francs at public auction.
