Lovely soliflore vase in emerald green aventurine glass, with finely chiseled gilt bronze applique decoration, attributed to the productions of Josef Riedel Jr (1862-1924) illustrating the artistic movement of the Vienna Secession and Jungendstil. The mix of the two materials creates a most beautiful effect whose beauty is enhanced when the vase is exposed to light rays.

Aventurine glass produces a rich scintillating effect linked to the inclusion of copper flakes in slowly cooled molten glass. This type of glass was discovered by accident by Murano glassmakers who kept the secret formula secret for a long time.
